“iv replaced it4 times now!!”
So in 10 years, 4 times…essentially every 2-1/2 years. Something isn’t right.
You make no mention of the “who” that replaced it, whether you or a shop. If it were a shop, I’d imagine it would be the same shop you previously chose, or you did it yourself.
Iffin it was a shop, and presumably the same shop, they made no mention of why? Or made recommendations?
Iffin it was you sir, condition of the sprockets, alignment and tension are equally important. OEM belt? Did you go to the narrower belt to get a fatter tire on?
I’d suggest a close inspection of each of these items before the 5th belt gives up.
I have 65,000 miles on the FXDL and 74,000 on the RGL, both original belts. Something is not right in your case. As others said check the condition of the pulleys and check the tension. I always set the tension on the looser side of the specs. Go back to older automobiles the most common cause of premature water pump and alternator failure was over tightened belts.
