Sprocket shaft runout tool?
I’m going to install a dark horse compensator on my 2019 Road King….. I know dark horse offers their own tool for measuring sprocket shaft run out, But I’m looking to see what else is out there as far as a tool goes. Any ideas are welcome….. Trying to get a hold of Kevin Baxter to see what tool he uses for sprocket shaft run out presently. TIA
my extended warranty provider, says that that method has too many variables on a rubber mounted engine, and they will not honor the warranty with it. therefore I need to find a specific tool for this specific purpose
my Harley dealer, used the magnet mount on the lift and strap the bike down and that was not good enough for them.

your warranty company is full of ****, first off,
good luck getting in touch with Baxter,,
use a dial indicator on the vise grip attachment clamped to the bike(hence to free floating error like something not attached to the bike.

You don`t need a specialized tool to measure runout on a Harley engine, this type of measurement is done on much more complicated machinery using standard setups.
Get a flat steel plate, drill a few holes in it, bolt it to the engine.
Stick your mag base onto the plate, use a dial indicator or test indicator to measure the runout.

What the hell does a rubber mounted engine have anything to do with run out? The dial indicator is mounted to the engine case itself, not the frame which is the only place rubber mounts could have any bearing on it. Drop the bike in it's highest gear, plugs out and rotate the rear tire. Done.

The warranty company was correct in saying the dealer's method of measuring runout was not good enough.
The measuring setup must be firmly attached to the engine, the idea of putting a mag base on the lift is ridiculous.

When getting the dial makes sure to get a large radius end for the indicator..

Not sure why you need to put the bike in gear and spin the rear wheel with the comp off. Why not grab the old comp end slide it onto shaft and use a wrench?
