intro.. MMI grad 1996, Iowa HD dealership 4 yrs, hyper formance machine shop couple yrs...owned mobile service couple years then after divorce began moving around chasing $$.
world traveler currently retired in Ar. not much wrenching going on (except GM square body trucks) use it or lose it for sure. hard to keep up with HD if not getting your hands dirty.
current bike is '05 fxdwg,, bone stock except thunderheader and air cleaner. recently picked up an '05 CVO EG for my grandson!
My previous thread referring to '05 heads fitment is concerning '05 flht which I had for 15 yrs (now my son's) history = bought with 33k miles as a repo, stock. then big bore kit to 95"
lifter failed while at rally near Austin.. rebuilt lower end (bronze sleeves in lifter bore and R&R 4 3/8 crank) made a 106ci. 500 miles later Stuck a piston while racing at north Texas rally (110 degrees in the shade). In 2013 I built a 117" with much help from hyperformance inc. AND R&R cycles in NH.
* screamin eagle cases, same R&R crank, S&S gear drive with R&R 615 cams, Dan Thayer oil pump, S&S cylinders, R&R stage 5 heads with manual comp releases. HD carb., Bassinni 2-1 exhaust, added baker 6 speed gear set. was a monster! tired now! Will rebuild, but for now a 103 or 107 is plenty for my son...inexperienced rider.
Looking to rebuild the 107" with original cases. I have cylinders/pistons and R&R 4 3/8 crank. and that brings me to my previous thread about head interchangeability...
