Help Needed: Trouble Removing Mustache Engine Guard Top Mounting Bolt and Nut from 2018+ Softail
My new-to-me ‘21 Heritage Classic came with an OEM Mustache Engine Guard that my legs are too short to reach comfortably. I want to take it off and sell it but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get a wrench onto the nut that secures the top mounting bolt!
It sits semi-recessed behind the cross brace. I've tried wedging open and box end wrenches up there as well as a pair of needle-nosed vice grips and and I just can't get ahold of it to prevent it from spinning when I turn the bolt (which is way tight, BTW). It looks like a thin, open ended offset wrench might be able to get ahold of it but I'm not having much luck finding any of those, either.
The thought that I might actually end up having to take the bike to the dealership or a local bike mechanic just to remove that stinkin' bolt wounds my pride but unless someone here in the forum can help me out I might not have any other choice.
Thanks for any help y'all can offer!
That nut...it mocks me.
At least I can reach this one, though it seems to be pretty tight.

I sure do wish The Powers That Be would allow members to edit beyond the arbitrarily decided upon three hours or how ever long it is. They're the only forum I've ever found with such a restriction.
Anyway, since I can't edit my post I have no other choice but to add follow-up with a comment. After trying everything short of a pact with Satan I'm waiving the white flag and taking the bike to the shop. That would be Redline Motorcycles in Tabernacle, NJ. They've saved me before and I'm sure they'll be able to save me again. It's a great shop, the best I've ever found. If you happen to live in South Jersey you should give them a try.
I would leave it, even if you can't use it. Protects the bike in the event of a tip-over. Going to cost way more than the $100 you may be able to sell it for.
