Is anyone using Senic route planning app?
I have heard this is a good route planning tool, but it's hard for me to figure out much about it looking at some web searches I have done. It looks like everything is done on the phone, but it does appear that you can make routes on Google maps and send them to the phone. Does anyone here do this? Curious if I planned a route on Google maps and them sent it to the app on the phone if the Scenic app could be used to suggest back roads or twisty roads or things like that, or does the route planning have to be done on the phone for that to work? I would kinda like something I use the bigger screens on my computer, the phone is fine for the actual GPS functions of the ride.
Curious to hear from someone who has used it. Do you like it? Does it work good? Is it easy for someone who isn't a phone geek to use?

I've been using it since 2018 after years of frustration using Garmin Maps and the HD ride planner.
When you use Google maps to plan your route and uploaded to your phone app, sometimes it changes roads you have picked, but this comes down to the parameters you have selected with Scenic, such as fastest route, shortest distance, avoid tolls, avoid highways, avoid gravel roads, etc. You need to review what roads are selected by Scenic to make sure those are the ones you wanted, if not it's easy to add or delete a waypoint to force it to your liking. On major multi day trips I use Google maps to plan and then refine with the Scenic App. On day trips, I usually just plan it on my phone.
Another plus is seeing what other's have made public along with reviews of the route which can be easily incorporated into what you are planning.
If you are a bluetooth headset user, you're not fighting another bit of hardware to connect as you probably already have your phone paired. And your not adding another bit of hardware to your bike, i.e Garmin GPS.
You can tailor the map to your liking, road colours, font size, notifications to visual, audio or both, speed warning, red light camera warning, etc.
Best of all you can download maps from around the world so you don't need to use cellular data
It's a winner in my books

Thank you for the detailed reply Candubrain. That was the kind of stuff I was looking for. I have a couple of long trips in the planning phase for later this summer and working on Google maps then having the app suggest route changes would be nice. I have been told you can select parameters like twisty and scenic. It is said to be motorcycle specific so those should be very helpful for route suggestions. Neither of my bikes has built in navigation, and I am old school, so for long trips I usually use paper strip maps that I tape to my inner fairing changing to the next page at gas stops. It takes a fair bit of time to plan the route and write out the strip map for rides 1000+ miles when trying to use secondary roads as much as possible.
Do you use the premium version or the standard?
