Default California black plate oppurtunity

The CA DMV is offering limited availability "legacy" plates to be released soon.
I'm going for the old school black with yellow lettering but there's also blue with yellow and yellow with black available. Just a heads up 11k available.

Default Annual fee???

I am interested. Thanks for the heads up and link.

I had a vanity plate for my cage many years ago, and cancelled it because the CA DMV added an EXTRA CHARGE every year. (Who needs to pay more tax)?

If it is a one time fee, count me in:-)

Do you know if there is a annual fee added to the renewal or is this a one time $50.00?

I got the impression that there will be a $40.00 annual fee.

Its the same as a vanity plate with fees. I'm looking into eBay for a vintage plate. They're running $150-$250 and I don't think there is plate fees. Gonna hit up the dmv/aaa on Monday to find out.

Also with the new plates they're going to be reflective and have all the BS the current ones do. The pictures of them are nice but I have a feeling they're gonna come out neutered.

Saying that though... If I don't get a vintage one off eBay... I'm going with the 60's black with yellow.

Didn't the originals just have "Calif" like the old days when states used the pre Post Office two letter crap ie: Mass, Minn, Conn, Miss, Wash, Penn etc?

Takes 9-12 months to receive your plate, and there is a $40 renewal fee.
