What choice won't require new cables?

I really would like to clean up the wires on my handlebars but don't want to have to buy new throttle cables, clutch cable, and brake line. I like the short apes and I like the drag bars but want to be comfortable without leaning forward when I ride. Anyone have experience with changing out the bars on their Fatboy without replacing cables? I have the 4" risers on right now with the stock cables but really want something internally wired.

That's the direction I was leaning. I was looking at the 10" mini apes in the HD catalog and from the looks of the measurements I think they would work. Anyone have personal experience with these bars?

I have an 06 Fatty

Changed the bars out to Hertiage bars

Same cables, wires etc.

Only thing you have to do is put a different bend in the Hydraulic brake line

Bars are 56 beans from the stealer and new grips are another 50

Bikes looks better and feels even better best move I did so far

The stock fatty bars suck

I just switched over to the chubby 10" mini-apes. Huge difference over stock bars(06-FLSTI), handling, comfort, looks all improved. Had internal wiring done also added braided cables. I would recommend chubbys over HD bars. HD bars will require riser change due to thinkness. The chubbys are necked down at the riser so you can use stock or replacement you already have that fit the stock bars. Saves alittle money. I had an indy shop do it along with adding accessory lights at the time. I purchased the parts.

Bob,

I don't have a fatty, but I have put the mini apes on my bike which is a standard. I ran the wiring up thru the bars except for the clutch and throttle lines. I did not have to change any lines out. I did not however use my original risers. Because the bars are 1 1/4 all around I used the risers off of an 07 wide glide. I wanted them anyway as they look nicer and are beefier. I believe they are a two inch riser.

I have no complaints about the seating position or the bars position. No back pains. The bars keep my hands at a perfect position and get no shoulder pains. I was worried recently when I put the new C&C sport and tour seat on which lowers me 1 1/4 inch that I would notice a difference but I didn't. Still comfortable.

I think they are a good choice as with the riser the 1 1/4 inch looks good all around. Nice beefy bar. I really would like taller apes myself but I want them in 1 1/4 now. I have been spoiled.
