Default 06 Heritage - adding true duals - too much heat ?

So I have long shots on my TC88 Heritage now, but wanted to change to true duals for a more nostalgic look. My wife swears there is going to be too much heat on the left side with the routing this rear pipe has to take. She is complaining before I even get a chance to get them ordered. Ha!

Anyone done this changeover and regretted it?

I cant answer that question, but i have the same concern. Shes already complaining about the heat on the right side peg. I put some flatter and longer rear pegs on and that helped her some. I will be watching for others to chime in.

I've had true duals on my Deluxe since it was new and I've never had anyone complain. I will say that YOU will notice a bit of heat on the back of your left thigh, nothing too brutal though.

I have big shot longs on a '05 Heritage Classic and true duals on a '09 Deluxe. No issue with heat on either bike for me our my wife. Ron 😎

The Captain Itch Crotch cooler really works to cut the heat - I suspect its more from the tank of 225 degree oil by your thighs than the duals. I didn't notice any heat issues on my Road King but it has the oil down under the transmission. Both bikes had duals and the softail with duals is a lot worse for stop and go heat.

The Captain itch Crotch cooler cured it. And he and his wife are great folks, terrific customer service.

Here's my review with pics and links and other members chiming in with support.

I have the V&H true duals on my Springer, the only time I feel heat is when I'm at a stop and I let my left leg go too far back to make contact with the heat shield.
