I'm not nuts about the look of the Indians and the fact they our built by Polaris is a turn off. If I got a Polaris it would be a Victory they look decent , but still don't have that Harley cool factor.

I actually liked the look of the dark horse, but that all changed once I had a chance to sit on one. As it has been said before, something about my Slim has a soul to it. When I got on the dark horse, it was like something was missing. Maybe it was the engine start button on the console... Idk. Something was missing!

Congrats on the new ride! I'm motorcycle enthusiast so I am not bias against any brand especially since I've owned at least one bike from most of the major motorcycle brands. I'm looking at getting a bagger/tourer as my next bike and my buddy who's getting a Scout (super awesome bike) got me to check out the Springfield. I took it for a test ride and I was blown away at how easy it was to handle at any speeds. It also went over big potholes like they were not even there. I also could lean into corners like I never thought I could on a classic cruiser. For a bike weighing close to 900 lbs it felt as light handling as my heritage.

Polaris is putting out some really amazing bikes as are many other brands. When I get my next ride later this year I will definitely have Indian's baggers near the top of my list.

The Slim S looks like a motorcycle; the Indian looks like a weird amalgamation of I don't know what.

Congrats, enjoy and ride safe.

Great comparison review. Sorry you didn't like your Indian, but sounds like you lucked out with the 120% trade in deal!

Just curious what you did for a "full stage 1?" I was under the imprression that part of the "S" package was to have a bit of Stage1 in it. I have been trying to find more info on this and would be curious what you did.

Also, Great write up Divine! While I had not regrets about the purchase of the Slim S, I did give some initial consideration to the Indian. I am gald that I did not have to go through what you did.

My fatboy s came with the se high flow air intake, however the tune was still relatively mild/lean. I ended up doing a full exhaust and corresponding tune but I'm guessing he means he did some upgraded fuel management with the factory parts.

Very interesting write-up, OP I enjoyed reading it.

The Softail Slim is a very cool bike; I'm sure that you will really enjoy it and bond to it. My own Softail (Fat Boy) is far and away the best motorcycle I have ever owned and it is truly the one that I've bonded to.

I've never known quite what to make of Indian bikes. Your write-up helped some, but mostly I still don't.

Guess I just like Harleys.
