Traded my Dark Horse for a Softail Slim S

Very good write up. I owned a Chieftain myself so I no a bit about the TS 111 and your review is pretty spot on. Agreed the aftermarket was slow in 15 and 16, but seems to be catching steam for 2017. I happened to have the infamous TS Clacker with my 2016 that made me get out from Indian and back to Harley. I did love absolutely everything else about the ride and bike itself, but clacking was just too bothersome for me to deal with. I do like the new slight modernization of the Chieftain Limited's and would consider one down the road when they come out with a better looking/performing motor. Don't like the rocker boxes of the TS 111 whatsoever.

If the picture of the 2019 Chieftain is real, I like it. I was never in love with the looks of the bags and fairing on the Chieftain.
After another season on my 2017 SGS I'll be looking at selling it so I can move onto something different. I'm not loyal to Harley or Indian and I always pay attention to what Indian is coming out with since I owned a 2014 Chieftain before I bought my Street Glide.... I could flip a coin and be happy either way. I like what Indian is doing with their limited bikes and I like what H-D is doing with the M8 by offering a 114 right out of the box (RGU) for 2019, among other models. If I were buying today H-D would probably get the nod for a 2019 with the 114 and a fixed fairing. The Road Glide has always appealed to me and I have to admit that I might have just a little buyers remorse in that I didn't get one in 2017.
If I see if a 2020 Indian with a fixed fairing and a different motor option (maybe a 4 or a staged out 111 stock) the decision will be a very difficult one for me to make. Indian is definitely growing and making an impact, I see them every time I'm out riding and every time I have a chance to chat with the owners they're always happy to talk about how much they enjoy their rides. Most of them came from riding a Harley... An Indian sold is a lost sale for harley since they compete for the same type of customer.

So how many of you have ridden an Indian? They have demo rides at the local dealer here once a year. There are a lot of reasons to buy one and a lot of reasons not to buy one, just like Harley. I still haven't found the exact right height windshield that I like for my Harley, but on the Indian, I'm good, as theirs is adjustable. To be fair, I haven't ridden the newer Harley's to compare to see what the fuss is about with the new M8's. The major drawback for me is the Indian dealer network, not as near as robust as Harley, but I do have a dealer within 20 miles of my house. Just a few thoughts rolling around in my head.

Nice new bike! I just can't get past the Indian styling. Tried one out this spring just because it was offered and it rode nice and performed well.
But ya got to get off sooner or later and just something about the look just doesn't do anything for me.
I can honestly say I got off the Indian and never looked back but just about every time I get off the Heritage I take a look back just to admire the look.
Great bikes if ya like that type of styling but around here it's rare to see one.
Just a guess but I would say Harley has Indian at least 10 to 1 around here.
