Default Ape hangers question

I'm thinking about getting some ape hangers for my deluxe. What is the recommended length. I'm 5'8". Are they confortable for long rides (more than 2 hour rides)?

If you do it right, they are in my opinion the most comfortable riding posistion available. Then again you really need forward controls to take advantage of the ape riding posistion. Ive got mine set up so that I just hang on sit back on put my feet on my stirrups and its like sitting in a lazy boy. I would try to cruise some buddies bikes with different ape set ups. I have standard mini-apes, im 5'10 180.
Check my gallery for more pics of my set up if your interested.

Get a good quality 1 1/4" bar not 1" wild1inc.com 12" bars are usally better a little stiffer than 16
and if you decide to go higher add 4" risers. As far as comfort woudn't ride with out them.i am 6'2" but that dont mean to much.my friend is only 5'2" and has 16".personally i dont get numb
hands at all i am not sure why some people have that problem.I think it is more motor vibe than
anything else.(thats just my 2cents).i ride pretty far every time i go out 200 to 250miles no
problems for me.Been riding for 15years always had apes!

Do any of your use your exising 6" risers with say 14" or 16" apes. What about cost. Thanks for your responses.

I have mini-apes off an 02 Wide Glide on my Night Train, and they're perfect for me. I'm 5'8. I can ride all day, without any numbness or discomfort.

Cheers!

I have a Springer with mini apes on it and I like them better than the stock bars. The reason that I like them better is because with the stock bars I had to lean forward too much and my neck and shoulders would bother me after a ride. When I went to the apes, my neck and shoulders didn't bother me any more. My hands are just under my shoulder heighth and I wouldn't go back to stock for anything. I believe that comfort is up to the individual. Some like them short, some like them tall, some don't like them at all. Good luck on finding what is right for you. Like has been said before me, they also just look cool, at least in my eyes.

12.5 mini with 2" risers, no rewiring or cabling. I'm 5 11", great all around setup.
