To the OP.
I hope you figure this out. Because it is beyond inexcusable that Harley would build a modern big twin with that ridiculous tiny tank. One of the prime selling points on my Road King was it's 6 gallon tank. No way I'm ever going back to a tiny tank. Damn, even my Snorkster has a 4.5 gallon tank!

I think the frame numbers are for different rakes and 240 vs regular width rear tires but don't quote me on that.

Breakout and Fat Boy both use a 240 on the rear but obviously have different fork rakes.

The spine of the frame on which the tanks are mounted should be the same for all 2018 softails.

That would make sense unless they did something goofy.

doesn't matter if the spine is the same. where is the mounting hole for the seat. and why would you care about the frame, no one is going to do a frame swap just to fit a tank. if you want a bigger tank, buy a different bike. it's just a motorcycle.

If the frame is similar then there should be no problem swapping tanks between the different models. On the 2018 there is no longer a "hole" for the seat. Seat clips under a plate which is the same for all models except the Fat Bob.

Still easier to adapt a seat than a tank. If the OP wants to change the tank, it's his bike.

it's his bike, he can do what he wants. not a fan of that bike anyway, but that small tank just looks outta sorts with the rest of the bike IMO

I would just wait for the 2019 Breakout. I'm betting HD goes back to the 5 gallon tank. Jeez, what were they thinking?

You missed the point. The frame comparisons are a way to help figure out if a fuel tank from one model will fit on another since the frame is what the tank is mounted to. Nobody is talking about swapping frames

Trying to get the 2018 Breakout to look more like the 2017 is not an unreasonable goal in that it retains the benefit of the M8 and improved frame and suspension while increasing the functionality by increasing fuel capacity.

Since when did everyone expect a bike to be kept bone stock?
