Excessive HEAT on Softail
#11
We've added the Capt Itch leather shield, eliminated the cats with Rinehart kickback exhaust system, and tuned it with a power vision. Haven't tried the Juggs fans as the problem seems to be the lower leg. Doing a seat mod at Bitchin Stichin in Denver next week.

I live in Texas and its always hot here. Here's few things I did to cut the heat on my Fat Boy Lo. 1. DK customs sells a 1-1/2 lift kit for the tank, it allows air to hit the top of the motor when moving or escape from the motor when sitting still. 2. Went to my local race track and got some reflective heat shield for under my seat. 3. Bought an exhaust with metallic ceramic powder coating on the inside and outside of the pipe with a black powder coating on the outside from Rush Racing. (I do have other exhaust systems and usually send them to Specialized Performance Coat in Arlington TX to have it done because most manufacturers only coat the outside of the pipes while the inside rusts.). 4. Bought the Dyno Power Vision and had my bike tuned by a good tuner making sure to have more gas pumping into the rear jug when the wheels are not moving. 5. I use Amsoil synthetic 15-60W in the motor and Redline everywhere else. With that I can be in 105 degrees and not feeling like my jeans are on fire. Hope this helps, I wish someone could of saved me a few years to learn these lessons.

Here's a Report LINK on little things you can do...they all add up to a pretty significant improvement.
