Tozco,,, Sounds like you do have a bad shock. I see guys everywhere i know they would top 250lbs. I'm 190lbs and ride solo only my wife has a Freewheeler. On every Harley iv had i need the shocks close to the softest setting. I'm worried with a new Softail the ride will be stiff. My son has a 16 Slim and that bike has a nice soft feel to it. I cant understand why the new suspension would be more harsh. If a 19 Sport Glide ride like my sons 16 I will be happy.

I do not agree that the new 2018 Heritage I just bought is stiffer than my older 2006 softail Deluxe or CVO Springer. The new bike is MUCH better in the suspension area. MUCH. Front forks are better and rear suspension is better and doubtful it will bottom out if you adjust the preload correctly; which is very easy.

Not sure why anybody thinks the pre M8 softails are better rides.

If your rear shock adjuster is working correctly. The rear suspension preload for you should be set to either 2 or 3. If you still have issues take it back to the dealer. Good luck my friend.
Cheers

Same here. I run the preload on my Breakout at 1.5. Started off on 1 but it would bottom out on big bumps, and i do prefer my suspension setup a bit a bit stiffer. I haven't had the chance to play around more with the preload, but i'm planning on trying it at all settings when i get time to dial it in properly.

I'm only 155lbs and this concerns me greatly!! I have a bad back and was hoping the new heratige suspension would be much more forgiving on the spine than some some of these guys are reporting.... i hoped for at least TC with aftermarket shocks comfort levels.
thanks

I’ve got a 2017 CVO Street Glide and a 2018 Sport Glide. I weigh 210. The CVO is, I would say, more plush but not mushy. I’ve got both set pretty soft since my wife never rides with me. The Sport Glide seems better damped. There are whoopdeedoo’s that sort of set up a little bounce in my CVO just a little and the Sportglide handles them better. Sharp little hits too. Also, seems like it handles rain grooves a bit better. Variables could be tires, but the Sportglide has a tight, controlled feel, but I wouldn’t call it plush. But it is a long way from being harsh.

The cvo is my choice for all-day comfort.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Ross

Ross above said it better than I. It's not plush but not harsh, handles very well and leans into corners amazingly precisely.

I had an 07 Street Glide that had in the front forks, racetech gold emulators and progressive springs with a fork brace, the rear suspension included a bagger brace, custom sprung and valved 13.25" Ohlins shocks with adjustable dampening and spring preload. 3.5" of rear suspension travel. My 18 Heritage rides considerably better than my Street Glide even though it was heavily modded. If you're comparing the old tour platform with the Heritage, the Heritage wins.
