air ride on 2018 heritage?

They offer a very well reviewed standard style shock, the Revo A, for the M8 touring that I haven’t seen offered yet for the Softail fitment. Sounds like it would give the performance you’d want, but adjustability might not be as easy. Air shocks also require checking occasionally as their pressure can diminish over time from my understanding. Sort of like tires. Just what I’ve heard.

Have you considered Öhlins rear shock. You determine the spring rate, which you select for weight and type of riding you do.
I’ve had them on the last couple of bikes and they make a world of difference in ride quality. Check with Howard at Motorcycle Metal and he should be able to give you a read.
Handling will be improved as you’ll feel like the tire is following the road surface even better, it’ll just feel like it is glued to the road.
I actually think the factory rear shock is pretty good although at 190 I am about where the shock was designed to be used by the MoCo.
Good of luck and if Howard can’t help you call Öhlins direct, they are very helpful.
