This IS a Harley Davidson kit which came with fenders also stamped with flames.
They made numbered kits in a serie of 200. I myself, own 49/200.
I was able to talk to 2 different guys at 2 different Harley Davidson dealerships. It is an OEM part limited run. They only made 200.

it that case I can only imagine that Harleys stamp out the flames on a flat piece of metal then bend it into the tank shape.

https://www.sme.org/technologies/man...ies-processes/

Procedure probably "outsourced" to a small fabrication shop

kinda makes you wonder why they don’t do it more often.

I would guess they make their tanks with a bladder and a form tool. They probably took an old set of dies and surface cut the features into it. I would assume they do their own tooling in house. Probably an easy fun project for the tool makers.

Not my thing but a cool tank nonetheless.

Supply and demand, my guess is if there were enough demand, it would be worth their trouble and expense for another run, probably just didn't get the demand response they were looking for?

Like others said, different, just not for me.

Flames, skulls, Live to Ride and all the rest of that stuff is more likely to turn off potential buyers than bring them in. If it does it for you OP, you're golden.
