Default 07 FATBOY 12VDC AUX POWER IDEA

I needed a way to chargemy cell phone and Ipod on long trips when I'm sleeping on the side of the road. I'm sure there are more ingenious ways of doing this; however, this is how I did mine. Not only does it work well, but it is hidden from view.

1. I bought a 12" 2 pole flat connector for a trailer hitch. $3.00
2. I bought a 12vdc cigarette socket with a cover for the opening. $8.00

I stripped the ends of the wires, soldered them together, heat-shrunk the connections, and applied waterproof stretch electrical tape to wires.

Ensure your wires are connected correctly .....you don't want reverse polarity!

3. I connected the end of my 2 pole connector to my battery tender connection...and that's where I got my power from.

4. I secured the 12vdc cigarette socket just where I wanted, and just like that I'm in business.

5. Took less than a half hour to complete.

I'm assuming the battery tender is fused.

Yes. The battery tender cable which is connected to the battery has a 7.5 amp fuse. Adjust fuse size to suit your electronic connection needs.

Nice set-up. I have a similar setup that I purchased from Power-Let. Just plug it into the battery tender cord, attach whatever deviceyou want via the charging cord and ride. My cord is 12 inches in length and when I add my long charging cords for my Ipod and Cellphone, I can put it in my pocket and let it charge. Power-let also sells a dual set up for charging two devices at the same time. My Deuce did not come with an auxillary plug-in.

Thanks. It works really well, and like you said....put the cell or Ipod in your pocket or on your belt, and you are good-to-go! Definately worth doing.

I was thinking of doing the same thing.
But instead of plugging the socket in to the tender line.
I was thinking of replacing the plug with the female lighter socket.
Then I would replace the end of the tender line with a matching male lighter plug.
That wayyou wouldn't have to bother unplugging anything to use the tender.
Just plug the tender into the lighter socket and your done.
