Whatever you decide on here's a hint that I use when on multiday cycle trips. I throw the previous days socks and underware away. By the time I'm home the load is lighter and the wife has less laundry to do.

 

I have an expandable T-Bag. It really holds a lot of stuff. I bought it new on Ebay and saved some money.

 

I bought a small aftermarket luggage rack that uses the sissybar rails for support ($60). Two small "L" bracket secure it just below the backrest pad. Goes on in 5 Minutes

I did have to put the laydown plate because of the rack.

Saddleman T-Bag. 18"high X 15" wide X 10" deep. Comes with the sleeping bag roll sits on top. Velcro straps to the backrest. Also has a raincover in the top connected in for covering it when it rains. $200 from Dennis Kirk. A lot like this

Mine is leather and has the studs to match the Heritage. That's all you need. I've used this set up for 5 years now. I pack road map, shoes and camera in the sleeping bag roll.

 

I love my expandable t-bags...cheaper, more conveniant -

 

Wife and I rode 2-up over the Thanksgiving break. Packed everything we needed to hotel-hop over 4 days, 3 nights, including some tools and rain gear. Had plenty of room.

T-bag sat on a rear fender rack that looks covered-up, but nothing rubbed or scratched. T-Bag (from Harley) had backrest slip-over and quick-release buckles that attached everything securely.

The pack has clips that attach to the rack. They can only be accessed from inside the pack so it's very secure on the rack. It also has a very good lock and it opens to the side rather than toward the front. It's capacity is slightly smaller than the HD version, but it really holds a lot. The materials and workmanship are top notch. Everyone thinks it's an HD but it costs a whole lot less. You can order it direct or through your dealer. Price is the same. I'm very happy with it.

 

I plan on hitting the swap meets to pick up some bags at discount prices!!

 

Thebiggest benefit of the tourpak overT-Bag is that the tourpak can hold a FF helmet when you get you your location and not have to leave out. It is also more weather resistant. after 40 k on by T bag the seams are beginning to rip which is why I went with a tour pak with detachable mount.

 

If you're going to do a lot of touring two definitely get the u/g best way to go.
Funny all my friends (except a couple people) rag on my "big slow skoot" but when we're traveling
or jus'bangin round town they really have to work to stay ahead of me and all there junk I'm haulin.
They'll be pissed now that I have my second bike and no room for there contraband.
