Default Rear running Lights Deluxe

I have the HD running light conversion kit for the tailights of my Heritage (page 373 (G) of wish book) and was looking to do the same for my wife's Deluxe. But then I noticed thatthe book says they are notDOT approved for 05 or later Deluxes. Any guesses why they would be okay for a Heritage but not for the same year Deluxe?. I couldn't find the DOT reg covering it.

The key I suppose would be knowing what's different about the tailights on an 04 or earlier Deluxe.

Any other DOT approved suggestions for increasing the rear visibility of her bike.

The turn signals are too close together to meet DOT specs. If you look the running light conversion is not to be used on the Heritage with the narrow turn bar either.

I use the conversion on the Heritage with deluxe turn signals. To heck with em.

Thanks, I didn't notice that there was an issue with the narrow Heritage bar. So that must be reason for the non DOT rating. That's too bad.Guess I'll have to come up with some other solution.
