ORIGINAL: *NIGHT TRAIN*

* Got any pics of that mod on the Train?
Not the best pic, but you get the idea...

It's a cheap mod and quick too (15 minutes, max). You have to replace the inner shift arm (the piece that bolts to the end of the shift rod) with one that has a longer spline shaft. I used Drag Specialties p/n DS530610 (cost $23). It says it is for 90-06 FLST, but it fit my 08 FXSTB just fine. It is the exact same angle as the stocker, so you don't even have to adjust the shift rod. The heel shifter lever is a stock FLH item. If this thread is any indication, you will have no problem locating one of those!

HTH!

actually the heel/toe shifter is old school.
footshifted panheads from 1952 on had optional add-on heel shift levers similar to current ones. early 60's panhead duo glides before they became electra glides in 1965&nbsp\\;(first electric start harleys) had them although optional. they were one piece.
but the heel/toe device on the left side of the harley started even much earlier with, i believe,&nbsp\\;the early 1930's knuckleheads, but it was actually the clutch. the toe would engage it and the heel disengage.
&nbsp\\;
personally, i love the heel toe. it adds a style to shifting whether kicking the heel pad&nbsp\\;down with your heel or your toe! don't get rid of it till you give it a chance.

I never thought I would get used to a heel toe, after shifting toe only for years. I do agree, from the factory they are positioned too high. I lowered mine where they have just enough room to shift and it made all the difference in the world.

Rode with it for a few weeks when i got my fatboy, and took it off soon afterl. too many **** my pants moments from trying to get both feet down at a light only to realize my jeans got caught on the rear shifter! BTW, any links to the caps for the shifter shaft? Didnt know they made it.

Instead of an end cap you may prefer to install a spacer, which is available, and move the front shifter to the outside. Looks better IMO. &nbsp\\;MOCO has a rear shifter lever with a foldable peg now that can be moved out of the way, $60.

You can get them anyhwere.
* Joker Machine p/n = 08-49 or 08-50 (w/ spacer)
* Kuryakyn p/n = _1031

My friend shifts with the back of his boot while his foot is on the highway peg.&nbsp\\; I guess I don't have the right boots.
