Default Fatboy/heritage rear fender help!!

I have a rear fender off of a heritage softail i am unaware of the year. i am going to try to fit it on a 2004 fatboy. When did the fenders change this fender is not newer then a 2004 i am for sure. What is everyone's thoughts on this. I hate to get it painted and then put it on and it not fit so i would like to know before hand. to me all the fatboy and heritage rear fenders later then i think 2007 look the same clear back into the 90's. I am getting this painted next week so help me fast thanks everyone.

I am no expert, but I will bet $100 it wont fit. I coule be totally wrong, but usually there is some small detail that wont go smoothly. If you are sheet metallicly inclined (if thats a word), I am sure you can hot-fix it.

If all else fails, call the dealer or bike body shop and find out what small changes (if any) were made over the years

yes i have noticed the indents. actually the tins that are on my bike now have heritage fenders so the turn signals have been moved down to the indents so i am still good there. the only other difference i have seen is the license plate whole. i have looked on ebay and mine is definently newer then 95. my rear fender tail light hole is a rectangle hole and has a little tab to screw the light into. everything 95 and older has some raised up rails for it to mount to. any more input would be great so far i am thinking this should fit.

The other difference is the holes for the solos eat. The heritage has 2 holes for the solo seat in the top of the fender. I would bet it will fit as long as your bike is pre 2007.

Default fender

The rear fenders on the Heritage changed for the 2000 model year (same year as the frame and engine change).

A major cosmetic difference in the fender from the 99-earlier units is that the 200+ units have more material below the strut and an almost flat line in that same area, as opposed to the curve of the 99-earlier units.

Unfortunately there were also some changes after 2000. Harley lists multiple part numbers for the Heritage rear fenders from 2000-later.

Later,
BK

if all else fails, MAKE it fit. Nothing a hammer, a blowtorch, a grinder and a sharp eye for detail wont fix
