Huh - I actually like my heel shifter, but I can see where it could be an issue. I am thinking of switching to the folding one as well. I do wear clip-on pant leg stirrups maybe that's why I haven't had the problem.

The thing drove me nuts too so I took it off. Probably would have been different if I'd learned to ride with it but the dirt bikes I grew up on didn't have them!

Wear a skirt, the shifter won't get in the way.

How about a kilt? Seriously, removing the heel shifter was the very first thing I did when I got my 08 Fatboy home. Had a couple of anxious moments myself.

I thought the whole problem came from pant legs which were too baggy?

I guess my teenage daughter was correct about it being the bikes fault when she burned her unprotected leg on the muffler.

Or my son-in-law whined about freeway speed rides being taxing. But his jacket was the problem. It was two sized too big, and was acting as a sail. He sold the bike thank god, because he wasn't going to buy clothes that fit. "Thank god he doesn't own a bike anymore." I sure hope he does'nt take up hunting.

I've had upwards of 10 bikes at a time in my garage. Sport, dirt, cruisers, modern, old. I have never had any problem with clothing getting hung up on parts. At least since bell bottoms joined the Dodo in history.

Wow pant legs too long to ride motorcycle, etc. I never knew fashion sense to beat common sense. But you learn something new every day.

sorry if you havent left the 80's yet, but skin tight clothes are not for me..

i wear carpenter jeans to work everyday, so what you are saying is i shouldnt ride mybike to work, sorry but that isnt gonna fly...

i think removing the unneeded POS heel shifter is a better idea.. i am totally not used to it, if you like it - keep it.. mine is history..
