Jockey shifter...yeah or neigh?
After seeing Chazmanian's setup with the jockey shifter I am quite intrigued. I am quite interested in this setup, and the cost is a lot less than I expected it to be. I have my concerns, like getting sued to using a jockey shifter/foot clutch setup, especially in Los Angeles traffic. I am aware that the regular shifting setup is "much safer" but I am tossing aroudn teh idea of going to jockey shift. I want some feedback and thoughts on this. Vote too. Tia.

I just installed one on my bike and love it. It's really fun but you do have to keep your focus. I've been riding for over 20 years and can ride a bike in my sleep, no longer with the jockey. I haven't got the experience & hours so when I do make a mistake it's because I'm being lazy. It is a lot of fun though!

I guess I'll be the first dissenting vote!
This is of course just MHO...but the way I see it, jockey shifts really look there best on old school knuckles, pans, and shovels. You know, the old wishbone frames bikes stripped down to the bone...frisco bobber style...rat rod motorcycle style...ect.
This is not to say I don't think your fatty wouldn't look cool with a jockey...because it would...and in the end it is your bike and your canvas. I just think the factory shift link set up fits the newer bikes better.

Go for it. I've ridden two jockey shift bikes in the past. One was a long Springer with no front brake (true suicide, especially on hills!). Once you get used to it, you'll like it. As long as you keep your front brake. No regrets here.
(Not crazy about tank shifts though. I like the reach-around-behind-you style.)
