Alright so to make this one work on my '09 I need an SE filter and that gasket set correct?

The chrome backing plate works with this too right?

Is any of the filter exposed or is it all hidden?

The filter is hidden and yes you need the screaming eagle a/c. chrome backing plate works fine and that gasket is no more than a rubber spacer but you gotta have it or else the cover hits the backing plate.

I have a question - if the filter is all hidden, then how is it supposed to suck in more air? Might as well just keep the oem filter housing???

when you put the stock football cover on the stock backing plate the a/c is enclosed all the way around except for an opening on the front bottom. the s/e ac is completely open at the back all the way around. also the s/e and other after market a/c's use a higher flow filter.

that kind of sums up the general idea they were going for

the other option though not really ver nostalgic looking and thus not the right answer for this threat is go with the SE Air Cleaner Trim and Sock kit:

Another vote for the simple round HD cover...simple is best IMHO if you want an old school look.
