Fat Cat VS. V&H BSS
I am considering getting a fat cat for my bike but I have never heard a fat cat in real life. I am just wondering how the sound compares. Is the D&D as loud as the BSS? Does it sound as deep? I have heard some people say that with stock cams and comp. they dont sound as mean. I am also concerned because my bike is lowered and I am worring about the pipe dragging. Should I be worried about that?

Hey Boost, I have the Fat Cat on my 08 Softail Custom. I love it.
I just had Rush slip ons before so I can't really do a proper comparison but I do know that I gained 8-10hp with just adding this pipe. It's quieter then most pipes at idol but IMO loud as f&ck when you crack it.
My bike has the stock engine and shocks. I have scraped it twice in 4 rides because I think it does hang lower then most pipes. Don't forget you have a 4" diameter SOB of a pipe so naturally it's going to be lower.
I think the sound difference between BSS and the Fat Cat are noticeable. I have heard BSS around town and to me they have a deeper sound when you crack on the throttle and louder at idol. The Fat Cat has more of a racey, high performance sound. It depends on what you want.
I personally love the way the Fat Cat looks too. Looks beefy on our bikes. It would look bad a$$ on your's being lowered and having a solo seat. Also, I have never seen another bike with the same pipe. Being different is good to!!
Hope this helps with your decision. Ask away and I'll try and answer more.
