Default How much oil for an engine oil change?

Can someone tell me how much oil it will take to fill the oil tank on a 2006 Fatboy?
Showing a friend how to service her bike and I've never done a softail before.

4 qts of oil will need to be purchased. On the fatboy, the oil capacity is 3.3Liters

2007 Softail's are 3qts of oil.

I did my first oil change yesterday on my 09 Deluxe. The book says 3.5 quarts but I thought I should measure what I took out. After draining from the plug as much as I could (including tipping the bike up and to the right) plus catching all the oil from the filter I only measured 2.5 quarts. There must be 1 quart of old oil left from a dry engine. So, I put in 2.5 and warmed it up. The oil level seems correct but will continue to check.

If you change the oil in a softail the way the dealership does it you leave 28 to 32 oz. of dirty oil in the bike. I use the Rogue Chopper Scavenger and change all the oil. The system works so well I am starting a business here just changing the oil on HDs. It will be like a Quick 10 for bikes.

Default oil change

I'm still a little new at this and I have the question of, why don't the harley shop drain every drop of oil? Seem's to me it's not a complete oil change if they leave that much oil undrained
