NEED a stronger rear spring, NOT lower....ideas?
hey all....got the wifey a corbin dual tour...now shes all about riding..(good thing right?) but we do notice stock shocks/springs in rear suck. it's fine with me alone...255 but add her and then i am tucking the entire tire..
progressive 442's? or the grey drop in springs? I don't have ANY interest in dropping the bike...curbs on every drive and Chicago pot holes prevent that. I know progressive is mostly for drops...i already tightened the spanner up all the way and got 10% improvement. I don't really care if it rides stiff on 1up...i drive a F-350 diesel so i am use to riding on a brick.
was considering either of these two....but interested to hear options for heavier riders on softails that DO NOT include dropping the bike too..
442's fro 395
Grey springs ..these look good but is stock shock gonna crap out and are these really geared to be used with 442's IE new shocks and not OEM older ones?? Shocks aren't really the issue it's just sitting azz low and bottom out sometimes.
no, sorry i will not buy that crazy expensive shotgun shock...not for a few years...

You could run the Shotgun shock and adjust it to the height you want to ride it with. Normally I ride my bike near the stock height. Only time I really lower it is when I am parking it. Plus when I ride with my wife I normally run with it a little higher with the increased weight.
Either way the Shotgun shock rides much better than the stock shocks.

no air ride guys....i simply don't want the huge price tag that goes along with that.
looking for anyone with experience with heavier springs.
i agree...air is probably best...but i cant afford that no way no how....so its springs for me for now...

Ask them. They can make a stiffer shock that isn't, if you know what I mean.
In other words, stock ride height, not as much compression, and better ride.
It's all about setting the shocks up.
Also, this site says you can make them taller.

Read through the red, blue, and gray spring list. They list them as great for lowered applications but they ARE NOT lowering springs.

If you want to do it on the real cheap, you could get spacers whittled up for your stock springs. Stainless or billet would look pretty nice, or steel painted to match the bike. I used to race 4 wheelers on flattracks and used this on the rt. front and it worked great. I used pvc pipe as i wasn't worried so much about looks. I realize this will shorten your spring travel, but they don't have to be very big to change the action of the springs. Just an idea.
