Broken Front Light Switch
I posted yesterday about me not following instructions when replacing switch covers and broke my brake light switch. I have done a search and found several who have done the same thing.
My question is, for those who have fixed their own, did you splice into the wire or did you run new wire? I have found replacement switches at JP Cycles and Dennis Kirk. Any experience with either of these or should I get it from the dealer. JP and Kirks prices are about $16 w/o shipping. |
Splice it into the wires in the switch housing.

When you go to screw the switch covers back together squeeze the brake lever when you are screwing the housings back together. According to the Fix My Hog DVD I watched that should prevent the break light tab from being broken. I'm going to try it when I get back from Afghanistan and get my new bike.

It was just the nub on the end of mine that broke off so I screwed a small wood screw in the end of it. It has been working well for over a year. I will post pics if you need.

Mine did not even break. It just went bad. 2002 bike. I finally reoplaced it after several eyars of no brake light with front brake for a few years.
