Willie G Davidson On The Night Train:
*Cross posted this in the general HD chat forum
I've often wondered about the background of this bike-
"For those riders who prefer a simpler clean-looking vechicle,we created the FXSTB Night Train, introduced in 1999.We've always liked monochromatic, low contrast, minimalist motorcycles because they look so tight. The black-on-black look is at once subtle and severe. We used different types of black--wrinkle,flat,and gloss--to give the vechicle texture and degrees of reflection and to create visual interest."
"We know only too well that not everybody likes blacked--out motorcycles. There is a basic philosophy behind product design that we follow when broadening the line--There is no such thing as a motorcycle for everybody.Controversy,in my mind,is positive.Without it you would have a bland product line.No one would want to talk about the changes.I think all of our product designs should generate some degree of debate--it's healthy."

Nice info to know .... I am surprised it was only introduced in 1999.

The first SuperGlide was released in 1971 A white bike with red and blue accent strips it had a blacked out engine.Except for the blacked-out engine treatment it has little in common with the Train,in the book Willie G says they called it Night Train as a nickname.
