Default Input on Primary Covers

I have a Fat Boy Lo which has the stock silver outer primary cover. I'm looking to get an OEM black wrinkle one. I see quite a few on eBay, but can't be sure of the year span that will work.

I was going to powder coat the one I have, but I figured OEM black wrinkle would match better. Thanks for the input.

So here is the deal: the wrinkle black engine covers the MoCo sells DO NOT match the engine. The powder they use on the OEM wrinkle black parts has more gloss to it and a different texture. Weird huh? You would think it would be an exact match, but it's not.

If you are about 10-15 feet away, you won't notice, but if you are up close, it sticks out. I noticed this when I picked up my clutch cover. I would recommend getting your primary cover PC'd (~$75) or check out eBay (~$150), they have some guys selling wrinkle black PCd ones on there for A LOT less than the MoCo, and they match better than the ones from the MoCo too.

So is the year span 2007 - 2012? And would that be for Soft Tail only, or are touring models the same cover? Thanks for the input on the finish.

Maas Brothers Power Coating does San Jose Harley's power coating. I suggest taking a ride to Maas Brothers, select the color that matches perfect, remove the primary and have them PC it. you will be much happier with the end product.

Interchange is 2006-12 Dyna Wide Glide, 2007-12 Softails. Other models of the Dyna family will also fit but you have to plug the hole in the side of the cover where the gear shifter shaft comes thru. Metal plugs are available for that purpose.
