Default 52729-08 New Harley Owner - the right size??

I bought a 52729-08 sisy bar as pictured below. I got a deal from another person for $68 and beginning to think it was too good to be true. I have not bought the quick-detach studs yet because i wanted to "mock-fit" bar and make sure i like looks....
Now it appears when i hold the bar over the rear fender, the bar when centered, is approx 1 inch from the fender on each side, front and back fender strut bolts...

Does this gap get made up when I purchase the mounting kit? If so , this just means I am a new Harley owner and had no idea the quick detch studs would stick out that far...or maybe the bar could be wider becasue it is bent? if anyone has the same bar and could measure ID from quickdetach to quickdetach, and from front mount to front mount that would be great so I can compare.

Can someone shed some light for me??

It will sit away from the fender struts a little bit, more like 1/2" each side. 1" might be a little much.

I have the same one on my 07 NT. I measured the length of each bolt from the fender and it is approx 1". Hope this helps.

exactly

the quick detach offer a larger area for you to attach the accessories

and there is nothing that either the wife's FatBoy or my SG have on them that is quick detach that doesn't require a little squeeze to get lined up correctly before it slides into place

her windshield, her sissy bar are both quick detach and both require a little push to get onto the nubs

my sissy bar is also the same way

you will be fine

I have the same sissy bar on my 2011 FLSTFB. There is a pic in the my album section on my member page of the sissy bar on my bike.

The detach docking h/w does stick out. There is a 'price' to be paid for the convience of the detachable options. HD does make a rear docking hardware cover kit you can buy if it bothers you, riding without the sissy bar:

well here is the crappy a$$ predicament I am in.

the bar that i got is not actually the part number listed in the title ofthis thread... the bar listed in the titleis 9.25 inches center to center on eact mounting hole.

The bar that was sold to me is 10.25 inches center to enter on each mounting hole, hence it does not fit my bike.It looks as if the bar would fit if i used the hole tht he turn signal mounts on...

Does anyone know what this part nuber is?i went to the HD dealer on Saturday and they had a dyna witha 200 rear tire used, and it had a docking kit that went between the tail light and fender horn that measured 10.25 inches from bolt to bolt, and my sissy bar fit the dyna, but the dealer told me he doesnt know the part number for the bar...

I would like to sell my bar and and want to know the right part number so i can tell others the fitments for it...

anyhelp would be awesome

SUPPOSED TO FIT LIKE tHIS:

INSTEAD DOES NOT FIT LIKE tHIS

PS- I got my new 2-1 installed over weekend!!
