In my mind blacking out a Heritage just doesn't suit the bike but to each their own.

Only going about half way on mine. Will be adding Hogpro Black Magic Indy wheels in the near future.

It is the same thing when people turn them Cholo. In my mind, Black is a hell of a lot better than ghettofying the Heritage.

I was going to say just look at a Fatboy Lo to get an idea of what it would look like.
A Fatboy has a shorter rear fender.

It also has a different front fender. When Willie G rode a mod'd Heritage to Sturgis dressed as a Fatboy, people loved the changes.

The first Heritage, (1986) looked a lot like yours. It had no spotlights and plain jane aluminum engine. It had a seat reviewers nicknamed the "Honda Shadow Reject" seat.
1987 is when they got the look they have today.

Doesn't Heritage mean it is supposed to look old school? No blacked out bikes back the day.

Same as I thought the rear fender didn't need to be mentioned.

The Heritage came about from a dealer meeting where the MoCo asked the dealers what they would like to see. They said old school with a 50ish look but with modern tech. It worked and they knew they had a platform that would sell.
The Heritage we see today was called the Heritage Classic instead of basic Heritage sans bags windshield spotlights chrome highlights and black engine.

Change the fenders and wheels and most wouldn't know the difference.

I'm currently in the process of blacking out a 2006 Heritage, this winter is engine area & exhaust. Over the summer I may undertake front end & tail, depending on how much my wife lets me spend. Next year will be wheels & new tins. I chose to go with wrinkle black & some parts aren't offered by HD this year, so I had to look for an oil tank on eBay & found one new. Hopefully I'll have parts on mid-late March, still waiting on my exhaust to come in.

Bike is Cobalt Blue, hope to have pictures up next month.
