Softail, the last real Harley? I have had 40 Harleys in the past 40 years, almost every model. To the point, I just traded my Ultra Classic for another Fatboy, my 5th. Keep coming back. Now I loved the FXR series for a full out hotrod, but they are long gone. I had the first ST, 1984 FXST should have kept it, Classic. Pan, Shove, Iron Head, Sprint, Evo, Revo, had em all. The Twin cam B motor IMO is the best HD motor period. The frame, the motor the feel is all HD. Even the Sporty is wearing rubbers. Sucks. I just can not stand the idle vibes, every fn stop shaking my bones. Glad to be back on a Fatboy. Just thought I would share. I will NEVER ride on rubber again. My bones and joints feel so much better. To each his own. There is the Softail and the rest.
I drooled over that 84 Softail when they first came out but could not afford one then. So I rode my 84 Sporty for another 23 years and then got a cherry 99 Softail Custom with 17,000 miles on it. Even the EVO's feel better to me mounted solid. Mine feels just right up to about 80 when the vibes start to kick in and the motor doesn't look like it is going to jump out of the frame at idle.
Yea but with all the STD"s that are out there on the street's you don't want to be bringing anything home!!! Unprotected sex is just a bad idea now a day's!!!
I gotta say.. the rubber motor mounted Dyna that I had was a LOT smoother at higher RPM's then my Fat Boy is. I don't like the cruise at 80 on the Fatty but the Street Bob LOVED the 80 MPH ride. lol. To each his own I guess.
Started on a Softail and apparently I'm going to stay on one. Not that I've haven't tried. I've demoed every touring bike out there and none of them has been able to pull me away from the fit, feel and smoothness of my Heritage.

Same here...my '09 Street Bob smoothed out nicely at 2800+ rpms compared to my Heritage, it likes staying at the lower rpm range or it gets buzzy.

Same here. RKC tempted me but the feel just wasn't right. This Deluxe is paid for. Plus the Softail "look".
