Whistle sound coming from the primary

Whistle sound coming from the primary
I have a 2008 softail night train. It only does it when I am riding and it occurs in all gears. It goes away when I pull the clutch in or when I am at idle. I have recently put a new tire on it. Is it possible that an improper alignment or a belt that is too tight would cause it to produce a whistle sound. I have it apart right now and the bearing inside the clutch basket as well as the bearing on the back plate appear to be ok. Any ideas??

Thanks. From the looks of the bearing it appears to be ok but I haven't actually had it removed to see if there is any abnormal wear on the inside. I suppose that since I have it torn apart I will go ahead and replace it. I only have around 8000 miles on it but I guess one never knows. I really would hate to replace it, put it all back together to find out its the bearing inside the tranny.

I'm going to double check the rear tire alignment in relations to the front sprocket and replace the bearing and see what that does. If it continues I'll just have to take to Harley. I'm not sure I want to tear into the tranny myself. I have the time but not all day and the summer isn't going to last forever.

So I called Harley and they believe that it is the main bearing inside the transmission. Supposedly they just did one for another softail not that long ago..they said its a 6 1/2 to 7 hr job. I just so happened to have mine already torn down to the transmission so he said I could just bring in the trany and they could have it done in an hour. I like that. However, reading my manual.......in order to take the belt drive pulley off, you have to have a special tool AND this pulley has to be taken off while the transmission is mounted..WHAT!?! If not there will be damage to the transmission casing....SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME THAT I NEED TO LEARN TO READ AND THAT I AM READING THIS WRONG. I suppose that I can take the bike into them and it will only take 2 hrs and then they can give it back............seriously!!
