Thinking of running down to Beckley, WV for Bridge Day (New River Gorge) in AM from Afton, VA (Nelson Cty). Anybody interested in hooking up. Pure slab. Should be nice day to ride.

 

The Bridge jump used to be on my bucket list. I've been a jumper since 1980. Class 'D', JM. But I am 64 now and those rocks down by the river can bust you up. Also, I'd have to buy a new rig. My Crusair needs too much air to pop.

Was in WVa in the summer. Cross New River but not at the gorge. Wanted to go to there but my wife wanted to get home.

 

I never got beyond hop and pop because I moved and it became either too far or costly. It was fun. They have tours now that you can go on and walk the catwalk under the bridge. I got that for a bday present and it was fun except I got food poisoning from a picnic lunch (I ate the pickled eggs) and almost didn't make it across w/o you know. The guide loved to talk and one tour folk loved to ask questions. I'll never forget it. I went several yrs ago and you could walk right up to the jump platform and probably still can. I think that they have added zip lines now, too. Take care and next time check out the walk under the bridge. Wasn't too expensive but not cheap either of course free or me, lol.

 

I happened upon this event while riding with friends from Illinois. Was the second time I had been to the bridge. A LOT of great riding in the area and all the way back to Interstate 81.
