Outer Banks Rally
#12
I have been 3 or 4 times and they say every year it's supposed to be bigger even though every year it seems to be the same. This year it is supposed to be a whole week though instead of just 3 or 4 days.
Vertigo Tattoo is the best place to go but they started charging for entry last year. They do give out free beer though.
There are hardly any vendors and like someone said it is more like the HD dealers open house really (same owner owns all the HD dealers around there). One good thing last year was that I got some HD boots for $20 brand new at the Kitty Hawk dealer.
We end up riding there because it's so close but it's not a very good rally. It's actually better riding around there when the rally isn't going on.
here is the schedule and more info about it http://www.harleybay.com/custompage.asp?pg=bikeweek

This will be my 4th year to go, each year we bring more friends with us. Me and the wife are going together without friends this year. For me its all about the riding, coming down from Pennsylvania, taking rt. 13 and crossing the Chesapeake bay bridge (there isnt anything like it, make sure you stop and eat the flounder sandwich at the restaurant in the middle of the bridge). Everyone is super friendly and glad to see you staying in town.
Try to do the lighthouse sight seeing on thursday before the weekend traffic kicks in. Ocracoke island and the ferry ride is a good time.
If you make it to the little harley shop in middle of town, in the strip mall, try the sandwich shop across from them, awesome hoagies. The trip seems to focus around stopping at the dealerships and eating, Great Time.
If a motel is something you want to do, we always stay at Seafoam.com, family owned and not expensive, walking distance to restaurants, beer, go karts.
