I'm heading out friday with about 9 others, staying in Maggie Valley. Enjoy the dragon but watch out for the Tenn. troopers. They have been extremely bad the last few seasons. Also try riding the cherohala skyway, long sweeping turns and really great views. Check it out on the dragon's website. Hope to see you uppppp there.

is it true that tenn police will pull you over if you do not have a DOT helmet on??

At least that's the way it was for me. Now I only wear my non-DOT helmet in the hottest part of the summer and take my chances.

I'll probably ride over to Cherokee for the day.Do be careful if you are on the Dragon. As mentioned THP is trying to slow things down (especially the crotch rockets). As DragonNester mentioned thats when other violations are noticed. Be safe and have fun.

RE: Cherokee Survivors Spring Rally 07
We stayed in Bryson City three weekends last year. It seems to be a good midway point between Maggie Valley / Cherokee and the Dragon. Stayed at the Rosewood Inn twice and at the Gracey Manor which is right across the street once. Both are very biker friendly and rates were right at $50. Rosewood has a nice porch with rocking chairs in front of all the rooms. Several good places to eat in town within walking distance of the motels if you want a drink or two with dinner. Here's a link for motels in the area.

Joe, you also posted this on another thread:
Need some info from someone who has been there, is camping or a hotel the way to go, I want to be close to the action and have a place to park a truck and trailer if needed. I will be leaving from Fort Mill on Thursday afternoon most likely anyone looking to leave around the same time can contact me via pm.

FKNDLX, I love it.
I live in Fort Mill SC. also.
I ride up there most every weekend or to somewhere
in the surounding area in the Blue Ridge mountains.
Sometimes I just ride up there on a Saturday morning
for breakfast and back home by around 1PM. So I'm
wondering why someone would trailer their motorcycle
to a place that is only a3 hour ridefrom home 4 hours
if your stoping every 50 miles to look around and
stretch.
As for staying up there check out the
Blue Ridge motorcycle campground they have cabins if
your not into camping and it is the BEST motorcycle only
campground in the country! Their phone # is
828-235-8350 if you would like to make a reservation.
They are on NC. 276 about 6 miles off the BRP and 16
miles from Maggie Valley in Cruso NC.
As for the cops pullingpeople over for non DOT helmets I
only wish that was true because some people really do
need to be saved from their seleves. They only pull over
fools who are acting like fools, soin alot of cases the
same fool that would ride with a non DOT helmet is the
same guy that goes around acting a fool" so those fools
get pulled over.
I'm up there every year on this weekend, I do not do
Rallies I just ride in the BR mountains alot andhappen
to be there when the rally is, so I see what goes on up
there and I can say with confidence that if you are no
fool and are not acting like a fool you will not be
herrassed by the police...
Good luck and have FUN" up there
(I know the wife & I will")
