If you like flat, go in any direction. There isn't much in or around CG. There are places to go, but not much interesting riding.

How many miles are you comfortable doing in a day? Are you planning day trips only, or overnighters?

Plan on being in the area 4-5 days, comfortable going 200-300 miles per day.

I live in Casa Grande. Not many roads here, you can ride to Florence and catch HWY 79 towards Oracle and onto Globe or take it the other way to US 60 and up to to Globe that way. You can also ride down into the Reservation (long lonely roads)to State Route 86 and go east to Kitt Peak Observatory and onto Sandario Road through Picture Rocks/Saguaro Ntl Park. Or you can west on 86 to Why, then south to check out the Organ Pipe Natl Park/visitor center then back up north to Why/Ajo and onto Gila Bend then back to Casa Grande through Maricopa.

How far would it be to go to Tonopah and up Vulture Mine Trail to Wickenburg and back?

!50 miles to Wickenburg but you would not go through Tonapah. Going back would be about 110 miles going back through Phoenix by 60 and superslabs.

Donna
I think you meant Arlington instead of Tonopah. That's a ride we do every now and then. The Desert Rose is having their annual Chili Cookoff next month. Supposed to be a good event.

Is the Desert Rose the Bar&Gril I've read about?

Default Enjoy!

Not sure what you've read, Sprocket, but the Desert Rose is the quintessential American, biker-friendly, roadside bar (NOT a club). There's nothing fancy or presumptuous about it. A nice riding distance from anywhere but not too far, the beer is always cold and the people are always friendly!
