Default Question on Joker Machine Air Cleaner

Question for everyone,

I just removed a Screamin Eagle air cleaner from my 2012 48 and want to install a Joker Machine air cleaner. I bought this bike used and it came with the SE air cleaner. My question is what is the black bracket across the top of the below picture that spans between the breather holes on the cyliners that I seem to not have? Do I need this? Can I get a new one? I am guess it was removed from the stock cleaner and toss? Or does the joker machine one come with it. Thanks for the help.

It's the backing plate and comes with the Joker AC.

Before you buy, look at the Figure Machine version. 25% less expensive for the same thing.

Here's a link to the Figure Machine version. Whether you choose it or not, scroll to the bottom to see the "what's included" photo. You'll see the backing plate. The Joker version comes the same way.

Thanks for the info. And is a 4 inch cleaner sufficient for this bike? I see a lot of larger options out there and I've been searching around the forum and see a large range of opinions

Ok based on install videos I've found, the black upside down U shape part i am referring to is not the backing plate, it is a bracket that comes stock on the bike. Looks like I may have to find out how to replace this

My bad. I thought you meant the backing plate.

Its the support bracket for the throttle body. Part # 16361-07 Its a Harley part, available at the Dealer or Online. Some air cleaners don't use it, some do.

I have that exact one from Figure Machine and you're right, you don't use the plate with that one. Mine looks just like yours and I believe the instructions said to take the plate off and it's not used. I'm thinking the Joker Machine may have a slightly different set up?

As for 4" being sufficient, it sure is for slipons and tuned with a Superchips Vigilante at least. I think you might run into problems if you did a 1250 kit, open exhaust, cam work, etc, but from everything I researched the 4" provides plenty of air. YMMV.
