Mark the area under the clamps. Then go at it with a center punch and hammer.

Should I use tape or anything to prevent the paint from chipping in nearby spots? I'm thinking like a rock hitting a windshield and the crack spidering out. Also, will that make it more susceptible to corrosion now?

I just torque them evenly within the spec guideline. Just go back after a couple of runs and check them again for tightness.

The one I did it on was chrome and it was fine.

As far as not doing anything but torque it down, that seems to be hit or miss. Just torquing didnt work on mine.

I'm running into an issue towards the end of the install. I have the bars on the bike, but I don't think the slot in them is long enough. The turn signal wire is in the way of the collar and mirror/turn signal mount piece. I have pictures below. Did I do something wrong? Do I need to make a slot in my collar piece? These are narrow bars, but I read nothing on the manufacturer's website or the place I bought them from that said the turn signals couldn't be ran internally or that turn signal relocation is required.

damn that sucks, I would just cut the wire on the turn signals and rewire and mount them at the top of the forks with the factory harley kit.

I was really hoping to not have to relocate them. I tried to line up the turn signals to their mount and it would be a really tight fit, like zero slack from the connector through the bars...

Just extend the wiring on the connector end. Add a couple inches to them.

But that still would not fix the issue at the grips.

Well looks like I'm SOL for trying to keep the turn signals on the bars, unless I want to do some modification, which I don't. I called LA Choppers directly and they had me send an email to a technical rep and he said the bars require the turn signals to be relocated... A note in the product description page would have been helpful... wtf. I called up Cruiser Customizing and explained the situation and they agreed to my request for free shipping on a relocation kit from them. Looks like I have some researching to do.
