Stock vs. Kevlar clutch
It is, after a long, cold, winter, riding temperatures.
I am about to replace the clutch my -03 Sportster. Stock plates and spring seem like the common sense option, but I am just curious if anybody out there has switched to an extra plate kevlar clutch? If so, is there any advantage investing the $75 extra? Bike has 20k+ miles. Ride safe, Tom |
I've done it, on my Glide, using a Barnett kit. Unfortunately too early to comment on the benefit. I found that my pressure plate (on my 1990 Glide), was damaged and at risk of failure, so had to dismantle it anyway. I also have a 107" S&S engine!
I'm puzzled why you want to change at 20k miles? If you are going to, then all the advice I have read suggests the extra plate kit is worthwhile, which is why I've gone that route. |
I run an Energy One clutch (extra plate kit) in mine. Eliminates the dreaded spring plate, and is a nice clutch. Several thousand miles and no complaints.

My bike is at the shop right now for a bad bearing. Also the tech found out that the clutch is shot so I am having him put the Barnett kit with the extra plate.

Thank you guys for your prompt responses!
