1973 and 1975 Ironhead
Good Afternoon Guys,
I have been searching around for an Ironhead as I thought someone bought that hard tail before I could pick it up and found another one. But then the Hard tail came back up on CList. So I am curious about these old Irons. Both of them run great. The 73 is kickstart only and the 75 is electric and a hard tail. They both look very good especially the engines. So my question is first for the 73.
How hard is it to kickstart these over? I grew up on a GN400 and with that decompression level became very easy to kick over. But also I would like to know what type of scheduled maintenance needs to be done to keep these running right and how often? Also is this information in the owners manual?
The 75, I would like to know what type of scheduled maintenance needs to be done to keep these running right and how often? Also is this information in the owners manual?
Sorry for the long rambling post but I just want info from those that run and love these old Harleys as I have always loved them.

Cool bikes! I had a 1975 XLCH and it was a great bike. Kicking it over isn't bad just make sure the engine is well tuned. Talk the the previous owner about starting her. Some bikes have a little ritual you have to do. With mine I would get the engine to the compression stroke, twist the throttle 3 times and kick. And DON'T leave 60 weight oil in her when it gets cold! She will not want to start!!
