For my denim paint I use neat white distilled vinegar and a lint free cloth. The vinegar soaks up any grim and grease. any vinegar left on the paint evaporates. Here in the UK a 500ml bottle of Heinz distilled vinegar is only £0.35p., A bottle lasts about 3 months, that's cheap cleaning.
