12.5 444 Progressive shocks. A lot better than stock. What ever you get you need at least 12.5 inch shocks to get the travel. Some rather look cool. Me I rather my back don't hurt.

Ditto on length too. 12.5 minimum for comfort. If you must look cool as well, do a 1" lowering block with your 12.5+. Best of both worlds.

Personally I'm enjoying the extra ground clearance.

I've been running my current setup for over a year now and would do it all over again, it's night and day over the stock setup. Went with the 430 rear progressive shocks (12.5 length) and mustang vintage solo first and then noticed how lacking the front suspension was. Then went with progressive's replacement front springs, great ride and no more nose dive under heavier breaking.

Like brakes, the best suspension is the best you have ridden
Ride Ohlins and you will never go back. There is a very good reason why most of the top race bikes use them
If you cannot afford, or do not want to spend the money then take a look at YSS.

IMHO, one can do a lot better than Progressive.
I have some Progressive adjustable rebound shocks, but oversprung for my 76 Kg weight and Progressive is limited on their shock spring range. Not bad, but not great either so I view it as money invested on the learning curve

You might find that a linear rate, suited to your weight and riding style, is more appropriate than a progressive rate spring. But yes a Progressive spring is better than stock, but that is not a big hurdle!
When you change out those Progressive springs you might want to take a look at Gold Valves or Ricor cartridge emulators

Another vote for for the Bitubo shocks and working with DK to get the right setup. I was unsure of whether to stay with the stock length or go with 12's, so I called DK. Based on the conversation, I ended up getting 13's with 1" lowering blocks, so I get the benefit of much more travel while only raising the bike an inch. The ride is infinitely better now solo and with my girlfriend on the bike.

I definitely felt a big difference when I installed my 412 13 inches. Much better. Now after a year I wish I installed better ones. Still very stiff ride. But I don't think it's worth paying a thousand for shocks. It's still just a sportster, not a touring. I expect a though ride.

Ohlins are not 1000 USD with the Forum discount
I am not sure if he would want me to post the price so talk to Howard

Note the range on the separate reservoir Ohlins. If you want the ride, and like the look, IHMO this is the way to go
