Default 18' sportster 48 special w/4.5 gal tank

Hey guys I have a 2018 sportster 48 special and swapped the 2.1 gal peanut tank for a 4.5 gal tank i bought from eBay. The new tank is from a 2008 sportster and tank was stored for 10 years and never once used. It is the 105th anniversary edition and just a beautiful unique tank. Posted a few pics of install and final pics. Any questions just shoot me a message because I know a lot of people with peanut tanks are interested in swapping to a larger tank. I figured if I am gonna do a larger tank might as well pass over the 3.5 gal and go for the 4.5 which was on the older sporties. Also, a lot of people talk about the look of the 48 being ruined with a bigger tank but remember sportsters in general for decades had 4.5 gallon tanks on them so I think as long as you find the right one the 4.5 gallon tank looks great on the 48, it fills it out more and makes the lines of the bike flow better. Also fuel range is more than doubled.

That is certainly a great looking Sportster. A 48 it is no longer, it is just another customised Sportster as the tank has been lost, below is a '48 Special.'

Thank for sending the pic, the gloves look worn which I like. Also how is riding through different weather with the front fender removed? Was thinking about doing this but am hesitant as I am a new rider and do not think it would be wise to be distracted by rocks or water from the roads when I am trying to work on my skills. Also, of course as with many I was first told the sportster is the best starter harley (not including their 750 model because most do not like those to begin with), but the 1200 sportster specifically like ours is recognized as the best starter harley. I know have read many articles about them being arguably more difficult to ride than say a dyna or soft tail because of the weight distribution being higher up. Did you start out as a new rider on your sportie? Have you owned any other hd models other than this one?
