This question comes up from time to time. There is a whole section devoted to oil https://www.hdforums.com/forum/oil-a...ted-topics-30/

If it works for you, it works. The oil debate is almost as old as the dinosaurs it's made from.

Any good 20W50 should be fine for the motor side, and later models use it in the primary. I use Castrol GTX 20W50 for the motor. Have used M1 75W90 and BelRay primary/transmission oil on the other side, no issues with either.

Cool

Your Sporty doesn't have umpteen plain bearings, so the comparison isn't a good one! Its roller bearings will be perfectly happy with dino oil. I have a '90s Mustang V-8 in my car, owned from new, which runs on gnats' p1ss synthetic oil and loves it - my three V-twins are all on 'proper' dino oil!

I'd wager you've never posted an ET anywhere close to what Madnss has at the strip. The guy knows his stuff.

On a motorcycle. LOL And what is Rotell T5. Is that like Rotella T5. I don't use it. Have had good performance with Red Line 20W50 Motorcycle oil. Harley recommends 20W50. 10W30 is too light a weight in my opinion.
