You are 100% right... and now he can make this problems his own , I would at least install a spring seat or his kidneys stick to his throat.

Like I said, been there done that ....

but if you want a hardtail just go for a real hardtail frame instead of some struts way better looking.

I would recommend getting quality rigid struts if you're going to stay that style, I've seen the eBay cheap ones snap. DK Customs Beefy Struts are good and if you can find them, Biltwell made the thickest ones.

If you end up wanting slightly more cushion, Burly Slammer shocks will lower the rear 2.5" - 3".

For up to a 2" drop you can use steel lowering blocks with your stock shocks.

You can also lower the PSI a little on the rear tire for a little more cushion if you don't mind wearing it out a little faster.

I put 10k miles on my lowered Sporty last year, I ride it almost everyday. I'll be 45 in 2 weeks with a bad lower back and I am just fine riding with struts.

What Cam cover is that on the motor bottom end, I like that finned look.

It's a Speed Merchant Ribsters Cam Cover, bolts on top of the existing cover.

The product description says; 'provides the option to trim the stock cover for a clean finished look' what does that involve? Thank you!.

Curious... does going with struts cause any problems with the plastic swingarm bushings failing? Seems you would be feeding alot higher shock load to them compared to having shock absorbers.

You can also buy a pre-trimmed cover from Harley, its the "rail" series. https://www.harley-davidson.com/stor...gearcase-cover
