Default Did a Stage 1 but still feels held back, what to do...

I have an 18 Sportster XL1200XS. Just did a Stage 1 but still feels held back. What can I do to give it a little more power? I've been told get aftermarket slipons but I'm in CA and can't get V&H or any other slipons over 80db. What are your thoughts...

BTW I have a Stage 1 with a Pro Street Tuner by Harley-Davidson. I'm used to bikes with a bigger engine, but still seems held back. I thought after the Stage 1 and tune, it would be better. Thanks. Not sure what other parts they used but whatever comes with an HD Stage 1 package. I'll have to check the paperwork.

ok that specifies the tuner you used, but what other parts did you use to finish the stage 1?

The Street Cannons by Harley are 50 state, not sure what the noise level is. You'll just need to contact all exhaust manufacturers and see which ones can be sold for California.

Emissions Notice

The state of California considers aftermarket exhaust systems to be legal replacement parts for non-catalyst equipped motorcycles and/or if slip-on mufflers are installed downstream of the OEM catalysts.
Besides the noise level, slip-ons seem to be perfectly legal in all other aspects.

What exhaust and air intake are you running? Maybe a Stage II upgrade.

I'd really like some V&H cause I've had them before but not sure if they'll be over 80db even with quiet baffles.

Sounds like you spent a lot of money on DOT approved Harley parts without doing any research first and ended up with DOT approved performance.
You need to get away from Harley parts or your never going to really wake up the bike, if you want to go fast you have to be "illegal" in the eyes of the state of California.

Great point! I went with Harley parts hoping my bike would wake up. I have a 1200 engine that feels like it's being held back from it's potential. My bike wants to wake up but I have to be careful with CA emmissions. Bummer.

A "stage one" upgrade is 3 components, tune (or jets on carbed bikes), free flowing intake, and free flowing exhaust. You can safely do 1 without the other 2, but if you do 2 you must do 3. You said you had a stage one upgrade, but you also said you were running oem exhaust; if by oem you meant stock and not screaming eagle, you just identified what's holding you back.
