Changing Rim Size on 2004 Sportster 1200 Custom
Hi All! I am looking to purchase a 2004 Sportster 1200 Custom but am wondering if anyone knows/has experience changing the front rim from the standard 21", to the new style found on the 2019 Sportster 1200 Iron. A 19" and wide tire. Any details including part numbers would be appreciated. Very difficult to find any info on this. Thank you!

A 2019 uses different axle and bearing sizes from an 2004 so it would be much easier to install a 19" wheel from an earlier bike 2000-2007 (but double check that).
All the info you need is at http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.....asp?make=hdmc
Compare part numbers for wheel bearings, spacers, axles, etc. to see what is compatible.

Make sure whatever you try to do that wheel, bearings and axle sizes match up, lot of differences through the years. Some info here might help - http://xlforum.net/forums/archive/in...t-1933117.html

I have experience but on a 2008 bike. The 2008 uses metric sized bearings.
Looking at H D shop you would purchase a wheel you like and then the correct fitting kit for the year of bike you have which contains the correct bearings and spacers.
Obviously if you get a wheel in the year range of your bike it will have the correct bearings but they are not hard to change.
