All oil's arn't the same, that is not what i said. Each brand is unique to it's own. but 3 or 4 brands can come from one company, in which those are the same. but far from the same as brands using another company.

what i was saying is basicly

HD= and quakerstate small engine oil. nothing added noting taken way

all "different types of QS are the same, 4x4, SUV, high milage, performance... it's the exact smae stuff. this also applies to brands like Castrol

Esso=Mobile 1=mopar=UFA all the same
PC=Ac delco and so one.

but Petro Canada and Mobile one products are far from the same

i never said once all oils were the same

they got 8000 different types of oils. Do you think an oil knows if it is in a 4x4, or an SUV, or a hig milage engine. 4 or 8 cylinder? course not. but they make oils individually for that purpose. we'll the make bottles i should say, because the product is all the same. but people buy them because they have 4x4s and SUV's, and don't know any better.

Sorry, I mis-interpreted your quote. I understand what you are saying. No love lost. I have used HD's product for years and I would agree as not being the best I have seen a very low failure rate using it. Can't be all that bad. I personally use Amsoil, have for years. Used Silkolene and Torco in race engines.

If our Harley's could read they would no doubt be sitting back laughing at us in reference to all these 'this oil is better than that oil' debates...

Harley engines are a rugged, simple design, and for the most part if you change your oil and filter and reasonable intervals they could care less what you use.

It seems that they have become such a 'fashion statement' these days that some people treat them like a delicate baby, instead of the rugged fool proof bikes that they are.

Here is a good read, and I agree with just about everything said in the thread. In was posted in the Open Forum, and makes a lot of sense.

The thread is titled; "For those that fret over what oil to use, etc."........

true enough, the bottom line really is, use what ever oil you want. if you stay on top of regular changes it really doesn't matter in the long run.
